WR Berkley will issue all insurance polices underwritten by QUS, formerly known as Queensland Underwriting Solutions, from January 1, as the strata market underwriter seeks to expand its market share and increase its capacity for larger risks.

The deal comes after QUS and part-owner Calliden Group agreed to find another capital provider to help the former “reach its full potential”.

WR Berkley CEO Tony Wheatley says the tie-up is an excellent fit because both companies are broker-focused.

“Our brokers and policyholders are treated as individuals by an insurer who understands their specialist business risk exposures and provides long-term solutions in underwriting claims,” he said.

“QUS shares that philosophy and WR Berkley Australia is keen to help this highly professional, well-respected agency expand its market share.”
