Lloyd’s Australian underwriters report $392 million surplus

Lloyd’s underwriters in Australia reported a combined surplus of $392.23 million in the 12 months to December 31, according to data from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).

The surplus was made on total gross premium income of $765.59 million, and after claims of $37 million and commissions, fire services levies and stamp duty of $147 million.

The data shows that in 2010 the underwriters’ total gross premium income included $311.9 million for property damage cover and $378 million for general liability.
