Insurer introduces ‘build your own’ car policy

Personal lines insurer Real Insurance has announced a new “build your own” car policy that allows customers to pick their own level of cover, including selecting additional features, the excess and value.

The policy gives customers “the flexibility to play around with the options in order to adjust their premiums to fit their budget”, according to Real Insurance CEO and Hollard Australia MD Richard Enthoven.

“People have the choice to leave out or add on as much additional protection they require.”

Mr Enthoven says consumers “should have the right to be in control when it comes to buying their insurance”.

“With this in mind, as you build your insurance cover option online you can see, in real time, exactly how much it will cost as you add or subtract different elements of cover or as you adjust your excess and vehicle’s insured value.

“Effectively we have given Australian consumers more choice, more control and as a result more savings options than they’ve ever experienced in the insurance sector.”
