Industry trio form consulting group
Former OAMPS identities Mark Silveira, Kingsley Lamont and Craig Harris have joined forces to start up a new business consulting company, First United Network (FUN).
Mr Lamont was Chairman and CEO of OAMPS in 2000/01, and Mr Silveira was until recently National Operations Manager – Affinity at Willis Australia.
Mr Lamont and Mr Silveira met each other through the Steadfast Group, of which Mr Lamont was a founder and Mr Silveira a former GM.
Mr Lamont retired from the OAMPS board in 2001 after the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) commenced civil proceedings against him for a breach of duties as the MD of Steadfast. At the time it alleged he collaborated with former FAI CEO Rodney Adler for FAI to provide a loan to Mr Lamont’s private company so it could buy OAMPS shares.
Mr Silveira told Sunrise Exchange News FUN already has one large corporate client, WA-based investment property managers Wentworth Mutual.
He says the trio’s experience in expanding OAMPS’ operations and driving up its share price will be particularly useful in its work with Wentworth.
“In a way, the set-up of Wentworth – while it’s a different industry – is identical to OAMPS before the acquisition strategy.”
Mr Silveira says the company will eventually offer its services to the insurance industry, particularly brokers who want to experience growth through acquisition strategies.
“That’s something we’ll look at in the future, but we’re not saying too much at the moment.”
