IAA lifts revenue 15%

Insurance Advisernet Australia (IAA) has boosted revenue by 15% in the past financial year – an achievement MD Ian Carr attributes to the company’s “dynamic young brokers”.

Mr Carr told insuranceNEWS.com.au the company earned about $36 million in brokerage and fee income from Australian operations with a further $8 million from New Zealand.

Revenue has grown more than 50% since IAA joined the Austbrokers network in November 2006.

“We’re trying to build a business for the future, and our network tends to be a lot younger and more dynamic than others,” Mr Carr said. “The focus is not on targeting retiring people but rather those looking to grow their business.”

IAA employs 125 corporate authorised representatives and more than 250 Tier 1 and 2 advisers in Australia, as well as 17 NZ brokers. Together they generate about $280 million in annual premium.

The company recently held its annual conference on the Gold Coast, where South Perth-based Gibbscorp was named the 2009 IAA Authorised Representative (AR) of the Year, for the second year in succession.

Mr Carr also praised MD Peter Gibbs for securing the account for the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) world championships, to be hosted by Western Australia in 2011.

“That’s a huge account,” he said.
