Incoming Suncorp CEO Michael Cameron will take up the role on October 1.

Chairman Ziggy Switkowski says the timing is ideal because it follows current CEO Patrick Snowball’s final annual general meeting on September 24 in Brisbane.

“Mr Cameron’s depth of experience will drive the group and its many brands to the next level for the benefit of shareholders and customers, while maintaining the discipline and focus that underpins the company’s strategy,” Dr Switkowski said.

The appointment was announced in April after Mr Snowball confirmed plans to return to the UK after six years in charge.

Mr Cameron, currently CEO of listed property business GPT Group, has served as a non-executive director on Suncorp’s board since April 2012.

He has previously worked as St George Bank CFO, Commonwealth Bank group executive retail banking services and NAB wealth management COO.
