Clyde & Co creates new 24/7 cyber risk service

Clyde & Co has introduced a new service called One to help organisations manage and respond to growing cyber risks and guide clients through each step of the journey to cyber resilience.

The law firm says it will work directly with corporates, or via insurers by drawing on its “extensive experience and close relationships” with leading insurance companies globally.

“One is your cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary, worldwide solution that ensures you are prepared to meet cyber risk challenges,” Clyde & Co said. The One service will assist organisations directly affected by cyber incidents such as hacking and ransomware, including immediate response and managing any resulting litigation or regulatory activity.

Sydney-based John Moran is one of three Partners leading the initiative, supported by over 40 Clyde & Co teams globally.

"There’s a clear space in the market for a lawyer-led response to cyber threats,” Mr Moran said. “The last thing a business needs is to have to struggle with its response to a cyber breach while trying to manage day-to-day trading.”

He says the complexity and multi-jurisdictional nature, the sensitivity of data and the potential for regulatory involvement requires an experienced legal team to guide the response.

“It is the single biggest risk most companies face, hence the need for legal expertise. Sticking plaster solutions are no longer fit for purpose,” Mr Moran said.

The One service calls upon a comprehensive global panel of pre-approved vendors and clients will be able to reach the One network 24-hours-a-day.

Clyde & Co says its global cyber team has managed over 4000 cyber incidents ranging from small-scale hacking and ransomware incidents to litigating data breach claims and retrieving stolen data. It has made a number of cyber, data and technology lawyer hires, including Jacques Jacobs and Alec Christie in Australia.
