Agile builds team for new property offer

Agile Underwriting Services has launched a property offer and appointed Sydney-based underwriter Ellie Chen.

Earlier this year, the business launched an underwriting syndicate at Lloyd’s – Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate AUS 2427 – followed by the opening of operations in New Zealand.

Ms Chen, who most recently spent three years at Argenta, has been working with the syndicate’s management team since September to lay product foundations. She will be joined by further hires in coming months, Agile says.

“Property is a critical class for most clients and our expansion into this market gives brokers direct and immediate access to the syndicate underwriting team in Sydney,” underwriter Mark Hunt said.

Agile will initially write up to $10 million limits across industrial special risk, commercial property owner packages and single-peril coverages.

“Appetite is broad,” it says, and includes strata, agriculture and processing, warehousing, self-storage, hospitality, retail and healthcare, light industrial and engineering, education and religious properties.

CEO Robin Barham says Agile now offers all major product classes for Australian brokers.

“As well as underwriting complex risks in the traditional way, we will be integrating this offering into our innovative Powered-by-Agile broker platform over the coming months, to give brokers the full benefit of the efficiencies it provides,” he said.
