Zurich has hired three construction underwriters for its commercial insurance business.

David Abbott and Claudio Lupieri, previously with Vero as construction underwriting manager and senior construction underwriter respectively, have joined the Melbourne team.

Vince Banton, who will start in Sydney on August 17, was previously Munich Re construction and energy facultative reinsurer.

Australia and New Zealand General Insurance CEO Rajbir Nanra says the recruits “align to our new general insurance strategy” and “reinforce Zurich’s commitment to the market”.

The three will work alongside Construction Practice Leader Gordon McNab, who is based in Melbourne.
