Wesfarmers Insurance reduces injury rate
A new health and safety program enabled Wesfarmers Insurance to cut its injury frequency rate from 7.1 to 5.1 last financial year.
Wesfarmers Group’s annual sustainability report says the division aims to improve on this by focusing on vehicle travel, mental stress, ergonomics and building management.
The rate shows lost time as a proportion of total hours worked.
The report says subsidiary OAMPS Insurance Brokers gave more than $100,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation via staff and customer donations.
The Australian underwriting division donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and other charities and NZ brokerage Crombie Lockwood staff built more than 25 eco-playhouses for community centres that focus on Maori language and culture.
