W+K names competition winner

Wotton + Kearney has announced Liberty Specialty Markets’ Nathan McLellan as the winner of its inaugural Turning Points competition.

The contest launched last August, challenging industry professionals to work with W+K-appointed members to explore ongoing changes and technological developments in Property, Energy and Infrastructure sectors.

Mr McLellan, Liberty Specialty Markets Asia Pacific Vice President of First Party Claims, worked alongside W+K Special Counsel Matthew Foglia to write a paper calling for refinements to LEG clause wordings used in policies for construction insurance.

W+K Head of Property, Energy and Infrastructure Adam Chylek, who was one of the competition’s judges, says Mr McLellan’s contribution picked up on an important “technical issue” within the construction risk landscape.

“This is in an area where there is very little law, and which will inevitably be at the forefront of claims experience in the energy transition rush,” Mr Chylek said.

“The paper is well-researched, clearly thought through and a deserving winner of our inaugural Turning Point competition.”

Other finalists for the award were Integra Technical Service Senior Engineering Adjuster Sumeet Bhardwaj, Chubb’s Property and Casualty Graduate Patrick Martin, and CCI Asia Pacific Regional Director Trudie Moeller.

As the winner, Mr McLellan will be awarded a trip to a key industry event valued at $10,000. The other finalists will receive a $1000 travel voucher.

W+K says the finalists’ contributions will be available within the coming months to reach a wider audience of experts and industry professionals.
