Vero spruiks YP award

Rebecca Wilson would re-enter “in a heartbeat” and Cameron Dee “couldn’t recommend it enough”.

The pair are former Warren Tickle award winners and finalists whose stories have been put on YouTube to encourage young brokers to nominate for the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) young professional broker of the year award.

Winners of the NIBA scheme at regional level are entered for the Warren Tickle Memorial Award at the national level.

Award sponsor Vero has posted the promotional video on its website. Click here or on any Vero advertisement in the bulletin to view the video.

Suncorp Commercial Insurance EGM Distribution Andrew Mair says the award recognises and celebrates the outstanding young talent that is vital to building a leading workforce.

“The employment landscape in the insurance industry will undergo some fundamental changes during the next decade,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It is critical that insurers and brokers adapt to these changes and explore every avenue to attract and retain the best talent.”

In the video, 2010 Warren Tickle award winner Ms Wilson encourages young brokers to “embrace the process” and recognise their potential.

Last year’s winner Adele May from Willis in Brisbane says the award scheme has led her to encourage other young professionals to join committees and get involved in NIBA mentoring.

The award honours Warren Tickle, Australia’s first insurance commissioner and a pioneer of professional education.

Submissions for the award are due by March 31.
