Ten companies in sectors ranging from ski-lift operation to water and sewage management will contest this year’s Vero RMAdvancer risk management awards.

“The finalists are a diverse group of businesses implementing a range of different risk management strategies,” Suncorp Commercial Insurance EGM Commercial Portfolio and Underwriting Management Darren O’Connell said.

“This underlines the fact businesses of all shapes and sizes can realise the benefits of effective risk management with the help of their brokers.”

The awards are presented in property, liability and motor vehicle categories.

They recognise effective and innovative risk management programs developed in conjunction with brokers and Vero’s team of risk engineering professionals.

The finalists’ strategies include monitoring vehicle and driver safety, developing extensive fire safety plans and using technology to protect key infrastructure.

Contenders will attend an awards night at Melbourne’s Eureka tower on October 23, with winners receiving risk management consulting hours from the Vero team.

The finalists in the three categories are:

Property: Ardent Leisure, Buller Ski Lifts, Unitywater, Wesfarmers
Liability: Baptist Insurance, GPT Group, Tabcorp
Motor vehicle: City Holdings, Maxam, OCS.
