Vero has created a YouTube clip to show brokers and clients the importance of business interruption insurance.

In the film, business owner John Occhipinti discusses a fire that shut his vehicle accessories workshop in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria.

His JLT broker Brett Cunningham had included business interruption in his Vero business package.

Mr Occhipinti received an upfront payment so he could rent premises nearby and be back in business within two weeks.

“We’ve seen claims where people weren’t insured,” Mr Cunningham said. “They ask, ‘What happens now?’ Without business interruption, not a lot.

“I don’t think John realised just how important business interruption insurance is. Nobody really does until they have a claim.”
