Valerie Baker award open to intermediaries
The Valerie Baker Memorial Award is now open for applications, giving Australian brokers and underwriting agents the chance to win a career-enhancing trip to the London market.
The scheme recognises excellence in the general insurance intermediary sector.
The winner will receive a trip to the UK, attendance on a short course at the Chartered Insurance Institute or similar, a tour of Lloyd’s and a number of educational experiences and meetings.
This year the Austbrokers & IBNA Member Services (AIMS) Group is sponsoring the award alongside Gold Seal and Steadfast, with support from Lloyd’s in Australia and London.
Nominees will be shortlisted and interviewed by a judging panel comprising Gary Seymour from Steadfast, Chris Mackinnon from Lloyd’s Australia, former AIMS GM Martin McAvenna and Gold Seal MD Sheila Baker.
Selection criteria for the award include ethics and values, business success, client relationships, teamwork, innovation and entrepreneurship, and industry contribution.
Last year’s winner, Julie Pernecker from All Parks Insurance, spent time “on the box” at Lloyd’s, worked with several Lloyd’s brokers and underwriters and met Lloyd’s CEO Inga Beale to discuss the current market.
