Jim Donelon, the President of the influential US National Association of Insurance Commissioners, is to be the international keynote speaker at the upcoming Australasian General Insurance Exchange conference.

Mr Donelon, who is also the Louisiana State Insurance Commissioner, will discuss the US industry, regulatory and solvency reforms and lessons from hurricane and tornado disasters in a wide-ranging address.

Other speakers at the conference include Insurance Council of Australia CEO Rob Whelan and NZ Earthquake Commission CEO Ian Simpson.

The conference will be held in Sydney on March 19 and 20 and will look at issues set to affect the local industry in 2013 from regulation to catastrophes, and underinsurance to reinsurance.
