A leading expert on natural disasters will be a keynote speaker at this year’s Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) conference in Melbourne next month.
Evan Mills from the University of California and the US Department of Energy will look at the increasing frequency and scale of natural disasters.
He is planning to talk about what is influencing these disasters and how Australia can prepare for them in the future.
Other speakers include Symantec MD Craig Scroggie talking about global cyber risks, and World Economic Forum Fellow Gareth Shepherd looking at global risks including corruption, illicit trade crime and the risks tied to water, food and energy.
The conference is at the Sofitel Melbourne on August 17-18.
