Underwriting agents choose ANZIIF
The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) has selected the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) as its training partner.
The move is one of several initiatives decided by the UAC board after forums and a survey identified areas that were of “low awareness but high interest” to members.
Chairman Damien Coates says training was identified as highly relevant, resulting in the appointment of ANZIIF to run a professional development day in Sydney later this year. It may be expanded to other centres later.
Mr Coates says the initiative is the first stage in a longer-term plan to have tailored, recognised training and qualifications for the underwriting agency sector.
The UAC board has also appointed Sydney-based Gillis Delaney Lawyers to provide legal services to members. Five law firms submitted tenders.
Mr Coates says Gillis Delaney will help members comply with regulatory, licensing and compliance obligations, provide advisory services and a free telephone “hotline” service and participate in education and training initiatives.
UAC has also appointed specialist broker MegaCapital to replace Arthur J Gallagher as its professional indemnity program supplier.
Mr Coates says MegaCapital will also implement a broader insurance program for members, including management liability, corporate travel and a business pack.
