Underwriting agency AFA sponsors Australian Fathering Awards

AFA Insurance has announced a partnership with non-profit body The Fathering Project to sponsor the annual Australian Fathering Awards this year.

“We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with The Fathering Project in celebrating the importance of fathers across Australia,” CEO David Porter said.

He says as a second-generation family-owned business, the underwriting agency “deeply” understands the significance of family values and recognises the “pivotal role that fathers play in shaping the wellbeing of children and the whole family unit”.

“We are proud to support The Fathering Project's outstanding efforts to empower fathers and positively impact children’s lives,” Mr Porter said.

“It is an honour to be part of this worthy cause, and we cannot wait to make a meaningful difference in the community together.”

The Fathering Project was founded in 2013, by Professor Bruce Robinson in WA, with the aim of supporting fathers, and father figures, to be the best parent they can be so their children can thrive.

“The support from AFA Insurance will enable us to continue our important work in empowering fathers and father figures to create stronger family relationships,” CEO Káti Gapaillard said

Nominations have opened for the awards across four categories: Father of the Year, Community Father of the Year, Sporting Father of the Year and Australia’s Best Workplace for Fathers.

Retired Australian footballer and former Socceroo captain Craig Foster won the Father of the Year award last year.

Nominations close on June 10 and winners will be announced on August 31.
