The 100-year-old name of major law firm Deacons Australia has vanished following a merger with UK-based Norton Rose Group.

The expanded global Norton Rose Group will have more than 1800 lawyers, 700 in the Asia-Pacific region alone.

Deacons Australia was rebranded Norton Rose Australia on January 1. The firm has retained its significant insurance law practice.

Former Deacons Australia CEO Don Boyd is now Group Deputy CEO, while formerly Norton Rose LLP chief Peter Martyr is now Group CEO.
