The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) says its Hobart underwriting expo last week attracted the largest turnout of exhibitors yet for the event.

The expo, held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel on Wednesday, featured 61 exhibitors and was attended by more than 130 brokers, with many travelling from Launceston, Burnie and Devonport to talk to agencies about their specialist products.

The next expo will be held in Perth on November 9, while events have also taken place this year for Sydney, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Melbourne, Brisbane, Norwest Sydney and Adelaide.

UAC Chairman Kurt Nilsen, who will retire from the role at the December 8 AGM in Sydney, said there would be nine underwriting expos next year. The program had been curtailed in the past two years due to the pandemic.
