The Underwriting Agencies Council’s 16th annual Sydney expo attracted 300 brokers – 70 more than last year – and a record 65 exhibitors.

GM William Legge told insuranceNEWS.com.au the event last Wednesday attracted “brilliant” feedback from brokers and members.

The expo was run in conjunction with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) at the Hilton in George Street.

It began with a NIBA Young Professionals breakfast and closed with a lunch, where guest speaker Corporal Mark Donaldson VC addressed a capacity attendance of 270.

Corporal Donaldson was awarded the Victoria Cross for saving fellow soldiers’ lives during a battle in eastern Afghanistan in 2008.

This year’s expo also featured a door prize – a $5000 Flight Centre travel voucher – which was won by Stefanie Farrell of Eagle Insurance Brokers in Kempsey, NSW.
