UAC prepares for Sydney expo

The Underwriting Agencies Council’s (UAC) 16th annual Sydney expo will be held on Wednesday March 25.

GM William Legge says the forum, hosted in conjunction with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA), is the council’s premier event.

“The Sydney expo is always well attended by exhibitors and brokers alike,” he said. “The expo is an opportunity for brokers to talk to UAC member agencies’ representatives about the specialist products and services agencies offer to assist brokers in meeting their clients’ insurance needs.”

The event at the Hilton in George Street will begin with a NIBA Young Professionals breakfast.

The expo is open to brokers from 10am to noon, and will be followed by lunch with guest speaker Corporal Mark Donaldson VC.

Mr Legge says the choice of speaker marks the 100th anniversary year of the Gallipoli landings.

Corporal Donaldson was awarded the Victoria Cross for saving fellow soldiers’ lives during a September 2008 battle in eastern Afghanistan.  Early registrants to the expo will receive a free copy of his autobiography, The Crossroad.

Brokers can pre-register for a “passport” that enables them to collect continuing professional development points by visiting exhibitors’ booths.

Mr Legge recently returned from hosting the inaugural UAC New Zealand Expo in Auckland.

Held in tandem with a Lloyd’s and Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand breakfast, addressed by Lloyd’s Chairman John Nelson, last Monday’s expo attracted 17 exhibitors and about 250 visitors.

Mr Legge told insuranceNEWS.com.au UAC is consulting with its New Zealand members about a second expo later this year.

“After the wonderful reaction to the Auckland expo they’ve very keen to hold another event this year. So am I.”

Brokers who want to pre-register for the Sydney expo should email williamlegge@uac.org.au.
