UAC prepares for expanded Hobart expo

The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) will hold its second Hobart expo on Thursday, with exhibitor numbers well up on the inaugural event in 2013.

GM William Legge told insuranceNEWS.com.au 42 exhibitors will take part, up from 32 two years ago, and he hopes to “at least” equal the previous expo’s attendance figure of 200 brokers.

“Everyone’s looking for new markets,” Mr Legge said. “More and more brokers are realising that underwriting agencies have an important role in the insurance industry.

“It might seem clichéd, but underwriting agencies provide a level of service to brokers that enable them to provide a superior service to their clients.”

Mr Legge says the expos are a proven vehicle for raising the profile of UAC and its members, and for reaching the broker community.

Following the inaugural Auckland expo last month the council acquired two new members, taking the number in New Zealand to 11, he says. “That was a very rewarding result.”

The Hobart expo, held in conjunction with the National Insurance Brokers Association, is at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on the harbour waterfront.
