UAC expo nears target

The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) has signed up the 17th exhibitor for its inaugural New Zealand expo next Monday.

GM William Legge remains confident of reaching his target of 20 exhibitors.

“There’s been great feedback from the marketplace in New Zealand and a lot of local media interest,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

The expo will be held in tandem with a Lloyd’s and Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand breakfast at SkyCity Auckland.

Lloyd’s Chairman John Nelson will be guest speaker at the breakfast and will visit the expo afterwards.

Mr Legge says the breakfast is sold out, which will guarantee 200 visitors to the exhibition. He is hopeful the event will attract more than 300 people.

The expo is part of a campaign to attract New Zealand members to UAC, with a view to creating of a trans-Tasman organisation for underwriting agencies.

UAC has nine New Zealand members, which Mr Legge hopes to grow to 15-20 by the end of the year. The council has 92 members in Australia.
