TurksLegal scholarship winner named
CGU manager Charlotte Campbell has won the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and TurksLegal Claims Scholarship.
Ms Campbell is an internal dispute resolution case manager. Her essay discusses whether the concept of “contra preferentem” is still a valid tool for interpreting insurance contracts.
The concept dictates that when there is ambiguity in contracts, it should be resolved against the party that drafted the contract or insisted a clause be included.
Ms Campbell can choose from a prize of $5000 in cash and registration for next year’s ANZIIF-Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters Claims Convention in Sydney or an $8000 package to attend the Claims Conference and Insurance Services Expo in Indianapolis in March.
