Trade expert to speak at marine forum

International trade economist and Victoria University lecturer Roberto Bergami will address the Melbourne Marine Insurance Forum tomorrow.

He will discuss Incoterms 2010, the international standard for contracts for the sale of goods, first published in 1936 by the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Incoterms 2010 was launched in September of that year and took effect on January 1 2011.

“The rules have been developed and maintained by experts and practitioners brought together by the ICC and have become the standard in international business rules setting,” the ICC says.

“They help traders avoid costly misunderstandings by clarifying the tasks, costs and risks involved in the delivery of goods from sellers to buyers.”

Dr Bergami is a senior lecturer with the College of Business at Victoria University and a researcher with the Victoria Institute of Strategic Economic Studies.

The presentation will be in the offices of Colin Biggers & Paisley in Melbourne. For more information contact forum Secretary Simon Farmer at simon.farmer@qbe.com.
