TIO extends naming rights for Darwin stadium
The Territory Insurance Office (TIO) will hold the naming rights for Darwin’s Australian Rules football stadium until 2026 under a $1 million sponsorship extension announced last week.
The insurer, sold by the NT Government to Allianz in 2014, has sponsored TIO Stadium since 2006 and has had a 26-year involvement with football in the region.
“This is a 10-year commitment from TIO not just to football in the territory but to community infrastructure and the NT way of life,” Allianz Australia MD Niran Peiris said.
AFLNT CEO Michael Solomon says the deal involves a capital investment of $500,000 in the first year and $50,000 each year thereafter.
The stadium was built in 1991 and hosts AFL games and local league matches.
