Terrorism conference ‘offers global insight’
The Global Terrorism Risk Insurance Conference in Canberra next month will give a unique insight into the sector, organisers say.
The event, from October 6-7, is hosted by the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Reinsurance pool CEO Chris Wallace told insuranceNEWS.com.au 120 delegates have already signed up – but there is room for more.
“We have people coming from all over the world, including the US, UK, France and Spain, and other terrorism pools will be represented,” he said. “This conference gives more than just the Australian perspective, and brings together the views of government, industry and terrorism pools, all of which are quite unique.”
The first session focuses on the nature and level of the terrorist threat, with a keynote speech from National Counter Terrorism Co-ordinator Greg Moriarty.
Further sessions will follow on the chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological threat and the human cost of terrorism, before Clive Lines, Co-ordinator at the Australian Cyber Security Centre, delivers a keynote speech on the evolving cyber-terrorism threat.
Day two includes sessions on terrorism risk insurance trends, modelling and terrorism research.
