Sydney to host Claims Convention in spring

The 10th annual Claims Convention will be held at Sydney’s Sofitel Wentworth on September 20, with speakers focusing on changing trends in the claims sector.

Organised by the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) in collaboration with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, the one-day conference will feature panel discussions on the future of claims management, the impact of data analytics on insurance, the sector’s role in Asia, social media and innovation, cyber crime and the use of drones in claims.

Accenture Strategy MD Ravi Malhotra, the keynote speaker, will outline global trends and challenges facing insurers.

AICLA CEO Tony Libke says up to 250 delegates are expected to attend the event.

“We are trying to look at future trends and factors that will impact on claims moving forward,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“Just as other businesses are finding challenges from disruptors, insurance is also facing the same challenges from new models and different ways of doing business.”

A trainee loss adjusters’ workshop will be held on the eve of the convention, with more details to follow, Mr Libke says.

Also coming up is the third annual iAdjust conference in Victoria, on July 20 at Melbourne’s Rydges hotel.

Discussion topics include gadgets and technology for assessing, the use of drone technology, updates on mould and water damage, and strata/owners corporation claim complexities.
