Suncorp Commercial Insurance has unveiled changes to its specialty teams, designed to strengthen underwriting expertise and broker support.

The professional and financial risks unit will now have separate teams dedicated to commercial and corporate brokers, under the leadership of Andrew Beaver and Steven Lau respectively.

A specialist technical and product team has also been created within professional and financial risks, under the leadership of Michael Cooke.

The construction and engineering underwriting function within the construction, engineering and surety team has been separated.

Bill Galligan will head a national engineering team, while the construction team will be led by four regional managers: Paul Smith (NSW), Nick Aristotelli (Queensland), Maurice Raphael (WA) and David Abbott (southern region).

Chief Underwriting & Portfolio Manager Specialty Brad Dalton says the new teams will result in a better response to brokers and ensure technical underwriting capacity is focused on growing markets.
