Suncorp Portfolio Planning Manager Michael Gregory has won the Peter Corrigan Scholarship for Innovation and Leadership, devising a compulsory third party insurance approach incorporating risks related to ride-sharing services.

The scholarship, awarded by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Finity Consulting, provides up to $10,000 to attend an international conference.

“Michael’s entry ticked all the boxes,” Finity Principal and MD Scott Collings said.

“He showed strong leadership and employed an innovative data-driven strategy in solving a challenging insurance industry issue.”

Mr Gregory will officially receive the scholarship at the ANZIIF Insurtech Conference in Sydney on Wednesday next week.

ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford says the winning video submission was a powerful way of communicating thought leadership, lateral thinking and advanced problem-solving.

The biennial scholarship is open to insurance professionals who are ANZIIIF members and permanent residents of an Asia-Pacific country.
