Suncorp Group Executive for Human Resources Scott Alomes has resigned just four months into his new job, citing health reasons.

He says he is facing surgery for a deteriorating back condition to be followed by a long period of recuperation.

“I would like to thank [Suncorp CEO] Patrick Snowball and the Suncorp board for their understanding of my circumstances,” he said on Friday.

Suncorp has commenced an executive search for a replacement with the executive team sharing responsibility for human resources in the interim.

Mr Alomes held roles at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and National Australia Bank before joining Suncorp in November.
