Claims, distribution, finance, recoveries, settlement and administrative functions are currently being scoped by Suncorp for their potential to be offshored, according to the Finance Sector Union (FSU).

The union says the insurer confirmed at a recent meeting that staff from Indian outsourcing firms Genpact and World Network Services are undertaking scoping work, with representatives currently at various Suncorp sites observing processes and speaking with staff about the tasks they do.

But the FSU says that to date Suncorp “has not been able to provide details as to the number of roles likely to be impacted, nor a definitive timeframe of activities as they are still in an assessment stage”.

The union has set up an offshoring forum on its website to enable finance workers to exchange information on their experiences with or views on offshoring.
