Suncorp boosts parental leave entitlements
Suncorp has increased paid parental leave entitlements by a month and says it will explore how it can support all employees regardless of gender and family structure.
From September 30, eligible Australia-based employees will be entitled to 20 weeks of paid primary carer parental leave and four weeks of paid secondary carer parental leave. A requirement to complete probation to be eligible has been dropped.
The changes match Suncorp New Zealand, which introduced similar entitlements last year.
Suncorp Senior Communications Executive Bridget Dixon, who will take parental leave next month, commended Suncorp’s support of its staff as they transition from employee, to parent, to working parent.
“Parental leave is no vacation,” Ms Dixon said. “Staying at home with your newborn for longer is better for parents and their babies. I’m appreciative that Suncorp recognises this.”
