Submissions open for ICNZ scholarship

The Insurance Council of New Zealand Te Kzhui Inihua o Aotearoa (ICNZ) and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) have opened applications for their annual scholarship.

Applicants are required to submit a 2500-word essay on a prompted question relating to the risks and benefits of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to insurance, and explore if and how the technologies should be utilised by the industry.

The winning entrant will be awarded $NZ10,000 ($9231) to attend an insurance-related international conference or seminar as part of the scholarship.

The host organisations say the scholarship aims to award and empower professionals who “demonstrate potential to become industry leaders”.

“This scholarship has opened many doors of opportunity for previous winners, significantly contributing to their professional development, leadership skills and industry networks. I encourage all eligible individuals to apply,” ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said.

AA Insurance’s Georgia Mismash was awarded last year’s scholarship following her essay on the reputation risk from climate change for insurers.

Submissions for the scholarship close on November 6.
