Steadfast kicks off bumper conference season

The annual Steadfast Convention began on Saturday at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, opening a busy conference season for the industry.

Up next are the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) Asian Claims Convention from Wednesday in Bali, and the Austbrokers & IBNA Member Services (AIMS) conference in Perth from Sunday to Wednesday next week.

Steadfast expects more than 2300 delegates and more than 100 exhibitors at its four-day conference, where key industry figures will discuss changes and challenges facing the industry.

National Insurance Brokers Association CEO Dallas Booth, Allianz Chief GM Broker and Agency David Hosking and Zurich CEO General Insurance Rajbir Nanra headline a cast of speakers on the conference theme “one world”.

AIMS GM Glenn Schultz says more than 450 delegates are expected to attend Crown Towers in Perth from next Sunday, where the theme is “clarity is the future”.

“We have got a series of speakers giving us an insight into the future and about getting clarity of purpose and clarity of how we are going to address the changing needs of our clients,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“As we get more technology moving into our industry, it’s about combining the best use of man and technology.

“We are integrating technology into our business to assist with clients.

“We are also dealing with the changing risk spectrum with our clients as they become more exposed to digital risks that weren’t there in the past.”

Speakers at the AIMS conference will cover topics including the digital future, intergenerational leadership, consumer and demographic trends, and blockchain in insurance.

At the AICLA conference, topics including emerging insurance risks, fraud and cyber crime, engineering claims, marine issues and vexatious claimants are on the agenda.
