Sportscover sets up news portal

Melbourne-based Sportscover has introduced an online news portal aimed at growing its range of sports-related services.

Touchlinemagazine.com will feature stories from the underwriting agency’s quarterly magazine, Touchline, plus a video segment carrying interviews with leading athletes and sports executives.

Director Marketing and International Development Steve Boucher says the portal will not affect the magazine’s readership.

“We think the website will reach out to a new audience and not cannibalise our existing readership,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“We hope it will become a reference point for issues in sport, so people can dip in and out of the website and focus on the stories or interviews that are of real interest to them.”

The portal covers issues with a global flavour, ranging from food supplements and concussion dangers to the latest events in worldwide sports.

“It gives us the opportunity to talk about the issues that matter to sports and keep [readers] informed about what is going on in the world,” Mr Boucher said.

“It’s our knowledge of sports that is so important and sets us apart.”
