Specialist sports insurer Sportscover has opened applications for its amateur sports grants, which sponsor men and women in a variety of sports globally.

Twenty grants of $US750 ($738) each are available this year.

Past recipients include sporting clubs in Australia, Ireland, the UK and Singapore.

Applications can be made through the Sportscover website.
