Southern Cross Travel shakes up its exec team

New Zealand-based Southern Cross Travel Insurance has appointed David White as COO, as it expands its executive team.

Mr White, who joins from Nib, will begin work with the insurer next month.

He has previously worked at companies including AIA, Axa and KPMG, and has more than 25 years’ experience across a range of leadership roles.

Southern Cross last year appointed Jo McCauley as Chief Customer Officer and Sharon Weymouth as Head of People and Performance.

CEO Chris White, who has led the company since last May, says other changes have included the promotion of Louise Newsome to CFO. A head of risk and compliance appointment is pending.

The company began in New Zealand in 1982 and expanded to Australia, where it sells to customers online.

Non-executive appointments to newly created roles include Nick Bass as Head of Marketing, Dave Linstead as Head of IT and Hema Nair as Underwriting Manager.
