Six companies across life and general insurance have been named on the latest Employer of Choice for Gender Equality list, the benchmark for best practice across industries.

Allianz, Suncorp, Challenger, Genworth, MLC and TAL have been commended as “visible industry leaders” driving gender equality within their own workplace as well as with suppliers, clients and the community.

Businesses listed must meet a rigorous set of criteria deemed necessary to drive gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Allianz Australia MD Richard Feledy says his team is committed to flexible work practices and equitable development opportunities. The insurer has 41% female representation in senior leadership roles, with less than a 1% pay gap in like-for-like roles, as well as de-gendered parental leave policies.

“Breaking down stereotypes is one of the biggest challenges in creating a gender diverse workforce,” Mr Feledy said.
