Service honours brokerage founder Warren Saunders

A service will be live-streamed on Thursday to mark the life of brokerage founder Warren Saunders, who died last week aged 88.

Mr Saunders formed Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers in 1961, and the NSW business has grown to employ 50 staff, with offices in Kirrawee, Chatswood, and Wollongong.

He retired from the brokerage about 15 years ago, and his son John is the current MD.

The service will be held at 11.30am at St Declan's Catholic Church, Penshurst, but John says that due to his father’s popularity it would be best if people interested in attending streamed the service, by clicking here.

Family and friends are also invited to Club Central, 2 Crofts Avenue, Hurstville, where the service will be streamed in full.

Anyone intending to send flowers is encouraged instead to donate to Calvary Health Care Kogarah, by clicking here.

A dedicated insurance professional, Mr Saunders was also well known in wider business circles for his charity fundraising and sporting talents. He was a former captain of the NSW cricket team.

“Staff and clients were his biggest focus,” John said.

“He always said if you look after the staff, they will look after the clients, and so he took the very best care of his people.

“The business has had a great culture because of those key messages.”

Mr Saunders also leaves three daughters and 13 grandchildren.

Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers is independently owned, but a member of the Steadfast network.
