Rural broking group recruits execs

Steadfast member NAS Insurance Brokers, a wholly owned subsidiary of CGU, has appointed two executive managers to support its 350-strong broker network.

Matt Boon will join the rural specialist as GM Broking Services in Sydney from July 14, serving external markets, while Burkhard Meffert will take the internal role of GM Sales and Service.

Mr Boon recently sold his stake in Mecon Winsure Insurance Group.

He will segment the NAS portfolio, develop specialist schemes for the authorised representative network, set up a placement business and liaise with supplier markets, including Steadfast.

Mr Meffert will manage the Melbourne office, overseeing training and support teams and identifying growth opportunities by working with the network and enhancing service delivery.

He was previously Australian and New Zealand director of LR Health & Beauty Systems, and has experience growing a distributed network of small and medium-sized businesses.

“Together, they enhance our value proposition significantly and allow us to take advantage of all the growth opportunities we have planned,” NAS MD James How said.

He says NAS’ gross written premium has grown 50% in the past year to more than $200 million.

“There are not many out there like us with our expertise, who are pressing the flesh with farmers on the ground,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

NAS has offices in Perth and Melbourne, with a new Sydney base to open in the next few months.
