RMIA to select first Certified Chief Risk Officers

The Risk Management Institution of Australasia (RMIA) has invited senior risk professionals to be among the world’s first certified chief risk officers (CCRO) – the highest accreditation in the field.

The CCRO is available to certified practising risk managers who have shown proficiency in business and leadership acumen, strategic and structured thinking, communicating and influencing, risk management knowledge and ethical practice.

Applicants need not be chief risk officers, but must be RMIA members.

RMIA certification committee chairman Ken Doughty says a CCRO will influence, develop, implement and evolve risk management practices.

“Organisations are placing greater reliance on having competent senior risk professionals to influence, facilitate, evolve and guide the design, implementation, maintenance and evolution of the organisation’s risk management framework,” he said.

An RMIA-appointed panel will conduct interviews and the first CCROs will be announced at the association’s conference in Melbourne on November 16-18.
