The BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is among subjects on the agenda at the Risk Management Institution of Australia’s conference next month.

Woodside Energy COO Mike Utsler will give a keynote presentation on the first day, covering the disaster response and recovery.

Other keynote speakers include Essendon Football Club director Simon Madden, national Auditor-General Grant Hehir and Australian Securities Exchange Chief Risk Officer Alan Bardwell.

Beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman will deliver the conference’s final address, on the importance of tackling mental health risk in the workplace.

The event is from November 16-18 at Crown conference centre in Melbourne, and is expected to host more than 400 delegates.

A gala dinner will be held at the Plaza Ballroom on November 17, with awards to be presented including risk manager and risk consultant of the year.
