QBE Technical Claims Manager NSW/ACT Sean Morrison has won the 2010 Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) TurksLegal Claims Scholarship.

The prize is a trip to Nashville, Tennessee for the 2011 Claims Conference and Insurance Services Expo, plus $8000 spending money.

The award was announced last week at the annual ANZIIF General Insurance breakfast in Sydney.

The scholarship aims to give experienced general insurance representatives the chance to showcase their leadership skills and insight into issues affecting the Australian industry and globally.

Mr Morrison’s winning paper addressed the importance of the claims function within an insurance organisation.

ANZIIF CEO Joan Fitzpatrick says his entry was “a refreshing account of the role of a claims professional”.

The runner-up was Nathan Winch of Claims Services Australia, who took home a $500 educational voucher.
