Raffle places premium on fans’ generosity
Insurance funder Premium Funding has used its software development skills to create an iPad app and software for a charity drive aimed at sports fans.
The 50-50 Charity Raffle, co-founded last year by Premium Funding director Ross Hayward and Macquarie Bank Senior Adviser John Corry, is already on track to raise $350,000.
Tickets are sold at rugby venues in partnership with Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Reds clubs.
Sellers wear distinctive green uniforms and can print tickets on the spot – with 50% of sales going to the winning ticketholder and 50% to designated charities.
As the prize pool increases, ticketholders can monitor funds raised in real time on mobile devices, the 50-50 website (5050draw.com.au) and screens around the stadiums.
The raffle is drawn 10 minutes before the end of the game.
Charities to benefit from the raffle include AEIOU Foundation, Bravehearts, HeartKids Queensland, Mission Australia, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Youngcare.
Mr Hayward says the scheme is in talks with other NRL and AFL clubs to roll out nationally.
