Queensland brokers step up for charity

Four fit young brokers from Brisbane have taken 810 bold steps in the fight against cancer.

The Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers Young Professionals members ran up 37 floors – covering 810 stairs – at the Waterfront Place tower, setting a time of 18 minutes and raising more than $2200 for the Climb for Cancer campaign.

Rhiannon Denver from Commercial and General Insurance Brokers says all members of the team completed the climb last month, but they “did not quite sprint all the way”.

The other team members were Ally Williamson and Kim Dempster from Regional Insurance Brokers and Rebecca Challenor from JW Bell & Associates. The four plan to race again next year.

The fastest male competitor completed the climb in four minutes and three seconds, and the leading female finished in five minutes and 46 seconds.

Some teams dressed in costumes ranging from superheros to firefighters and pirates. The event raised more than $150,000 in total.
