QBE supports wounded soldiers
The QBE Foundation has donated $60,000 to help pay for a new group of wounded soldier liaison officers.
The gift is part of a joint venture with non-profit group Mates4Mates, set up by the RSL Queensland branch to provide support to ill or injured Australian Defence Force members.
The liaison officers – who will also be wounded soldiers – will be a point of contact between current and former defence force members, their families and Mates4Mates support services.
“A wounded soldier looking after the interests of others is a model example of the foundation’s philosophy,” QBE Foundation Chairman Tony MacRae said.
“We feel that supporting the creation of this key role will be crucial in helping Australia’s wounded soldiers and their families on their journey to rehabilitation and the challenging transition from military service to civilian life.”
