QBE supports wildlife with donation
QBE has made another substantial donation to support long-time partner Taronga Conservation Society Australia, a leader in wildlife rehabilitation and environmental research and education.
QBE will match $14,534.20 raised via public donations for the not-for-profit during October’s “Birds for Good” initiative at the QBE Free-flight Bird Show, which has run daily at Taronga Zoo in Sydney for more than 20 years.
During a 14-year partnership, QBE has contributed $22,378 to Taronga, not including the public donations raised.
This financial support in part helps restore resilient landscapes for the regent honeyeater, one of Australia's rarest birds and among Taronga’s 10 legacy species.
There are only about 400 mature regent honeyeaters left in the wild, largely due to urban development, and the critically endangered species is considered on the brink of extinction. It is no longer found in SA or western Victoria.
